ScotShot LLC - USCCA Emergency First Aid.
This is a USCCA accredited and certificated course.
WHAT THIS COURSE IS FOR
This course is designed to introduce non-medical personnel to advanced first-aid
techniques that can be applied to serious injuries and events that may occur on
the firing range, but more likely in the home, garden, or motor vehicle accidents.
The broad purpose is to give people the skills necessary to stabilize an injured
person until trained medical responders arrive. The class is suitable for adults
and accompanied children aged 14 and above.
WHAT THIS COURSE CONTAINS
The course is conducted in the classroom. It is designed to enable motivated individuals
to efficiently offer relevant First Aid until emergency personnel arrive. The class
addresses four key elements of emergency first aid: Patient Assessment, Traumatic
Emergencies, Medical Emergencies, and Emergency First Aid Kits.
Participants learn the importance of an initial assessment of the patient and
situation, and identifying major threats to life. These may include head or spinal
injuries, impaired breathing, major bleeding, and secondary assessments. Common severe
traumatic injuries such as arterial bleeding, chest wounds, deep or widespread cuts,
breaks to the pelvis or upper leg, and severe burns are considered. Medical emergencies
such as heart attack, anaphylaxis, hypothermia and heat-stroke, are also discussed,
as is building emergency first-aid kits of varying degrees of complexity. Practical
exercises such as how to apply a tourniquet, splint a fracture, and pack a wound,
are included.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
This is a beginner-level course, designed specifically for people who wish to gain
insight to immediate first-aid. You should bring note-taking material, and a light
lunch. Most importantly, you should bring a positive, safety-orientated attitude, and a
willingness to learn about what you can do to help someone in an emergency.
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
We provide all training materials, the detailed USCCA "Emergency First-Aid Fundamentals"
manual, classroom and practical exercise materials. Light refreshments
are included. You will take away a great experience, and a clear understanding of
what you can do to help save a life. You'll understand how to begin
developing those skills, too. A USCCA certificate of completion is issued.
